Covid 19 Update: After much deliberation as well as conversations with our Staff Members and carefully reading through the new “Safer At Home” order from Gov. Roy Cooper, Skydive Central NC has formally made a decision to remain closed at this time. We greatly value the health and well being of all of our customers and staff and feel that we have not reached the appropriate point to begin taking Tandem Skydives just yet. We apologize For any inconveniences this may cause any of our customers but please know we want to get back in the skies as much as you do and will do so as soon as we can have confidence that it can be done safely. Why Remain Closed? Tandem Skydiving requires the participant to be physically attached to an instructor for an period of time while in an airplane, during the freefall, and during the parachute ride which can exceed 10 mins. The skydiving process does not allow for face coverings to be properly worn during the entire process and all participants must ride in an enclosed aircraft together for around 20 mins. The gear used for tandem skydiving must be shared between different participants and due to the hardwear it is difficult to clean with disinfectants in between participants. The “Safer at Home” order from our Governor still mandates that people should remain socially distanced, and that outdoor activities are limited to a group no larger than 25. Based off of our activities while skydiving we cannot meet the suggestions laid out in this order. When Will we return to skydiving? At this time we are Tentatively looking to open on July 5th, as we approach this date we will meet with our staff again as well as view the current Executive Order our Governor has in place at that time and make a final decision on how to proceed. Thank you to all of our Customers and Staff for your understanding during this time! Stay Safe! Kelvin Wilkerson Jr. Owner Skydive Central N.C.
